About Nisha

Nisha Bhimani is a Registered Psychotherapist with over 10+ years of practice in the field. She specializes in working with children and their parents, youth, adults, and new mothers. Nisha has helped clients deal with various mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, chronic pain, grief and loss, stress, and adjusting to new changes and chapters in life such as moving to a new country, change in job or relationships.
 
She possesses a wealth of knowledge and skills to provide evidence-based treatments and guide clients to achieve their goals. Believing that every client is unique, she uses an integrative approach that is tailored to each person’s specific needs and values. 
 
With a compassionate heart and a down-to-earth personality, our therapist practices active listening, mindfulness, and effective communication techniques that build a positive and safe therapeutic relationship. Her empathy, non-judgmental approach, and creativity help clients break free of their limiting beliefs and empower them with resilience and coping skills. 
 
Her approach is solution-focused, where she helps clients rediscover their potential to live a meaningful life. Nisha uses evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) to help clients achieve positive change.
 
She excels at helping adults navigate through and better understand their thoughts and emotions. With her expertise, clients learn to manage stress in relationships, work, and life in general. 
 
Nisha empowers the family unit, ensuring that parents are also equipped with the tools to support their child in their journey. 
 
She is also a certified youth Facilitator for international youth camps and a master trainer for Early Childhood Development where she designs and implements programs for parents on parenting skills and positive parenting
 
It is Nisha’s passion to be the catalyst in her client’s process of positive change. She believes that balance is the key to success and is committed to helping her clients find the balance they need to achieve their goals. Nisha practices from a lens of empowerment and firmly believes people have an innate ability to be resilient and create change towards a more joyful, meaningful, and rewarding life.

    Zainab Afroz

    Zainab Afroz is a registered social worker with both the Ontario College of Social workers and the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers. Zainab completed her Master’s in Social Work specializing in Children and Families at the University of Toronto. She works within an anti-oppressive/racist practice, social justice framework, and a client-centred approach to effecting change in her work. Zainab has worked in the field to support children, adults, couples, and families. Zainab has particular interest and experience working with children and families experiencing difficult life transitions. Her work has supported individuals, couples and families experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, trauma, depression, stress/burnout and family conflict-related issues.

    Amal Qutub

    Amal Qutub is a psychotherapist with a master’s degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and an honour’s bachelor’s degree in Human Rights and Equity Studies from York University. She also has a post-graduate diploma in community engaged research and evaluation from McMaster University.

    Amal’s therapeutic practice is client-centered, trauma-informed, and attachment-focused. She maintains an anti-oppressive approach and is trained in systemic therapies.

    Amal has extensive experience in children’s mental health and has worked with various school boards in Ontario and Alberta. She has also previously worked in the newcomer sector, as well as supporting families with disabilities. Amal specializes in addressing challenges such as emotional regulation, depression, anxiety, grief, and navigating family transitions and conflicts.

    Amal is a firm believer in the power of involving parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process, equipping them with tools to effectively support and enrich their relationships with their children, no matter how young or old they are. Amal’s approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and empowers clients by honoring their own wisdom and lived experiences. She uses a systemic lens to explore how broader societal, cultural, and familial systems shape individual experiences and relationships.

    Additionally Amal is trained in evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Narrative Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).

    Amal is proficient in both English and Arabic, and is open to clients of all faiths and backgrounds. Upon request, she provides faith-based therapy for Muslim clients.

    Amal is licensed with both the Ontario College of Social Workers and the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers. She is also board member of the International Institute for Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (IIEFFT), and acts as program advisor for multiple community organizations.

    Maryum Rahman

    About Maryum

    Maryum Rahman is a clinician at the clinic and is a Registered Psychotherapist seeing clients of all ages. She has a special interest in supporting children and adolescents. She has experience working on anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress, and suicidal ideation.  She focuses on using different modalities of therapy including Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectal Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy.  Maryum is an education facilitator and counsellor with Naseeha Mental Health, an organization that helps to foster healthy connections between the mental health and faith of young people. She has spoken on mental health topics at various universities, schools and community centres. Maryum is able to facilitate sessions in Urdu.

      Gilan Abdelaal

      About Gilan

      Gilan is a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology and has a decade of experience with a particular focus on trauma. 

      Gilan is committed to conducting client-centred therapy and has experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, as well as Narrative Exposure Therapy. She also has training and experience with the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy.

      Gilan has worked at Homewood Health Centre, Costi Immigration Services, Torchlight Services, as well as Morneau Shepell. She has experience working with youth, adults, couples, families, as well as conducting group therapy. She has treated various conditions including PTSD, depression, grief, general anxiety disorder, adjustment disorder, chronic pain, brain injury, addictions, borderline personality disorder, provided crisis intervention, relationship management, domestic violence survivors, anger management, stress management, obsessive-compulsive disorder, as well as self-harm and suicidal behaviour. 

      Upon request Gilan is able to provide faith-based therapy for clients who identify as Muslim and can facilitate sessions in Arabic.
